New Layout for Blog and website

Hi Everyone.

No, there is nothing wrong with your Computer screen. And yes you are on the right blog.
What happened?
The answer is simple.
What happened is me getting tired of my old layout.
I have been very annoyed for some time with the pink and purple theme of my blog and website, and I felt it just didn't look good anymore. And besides, I thought the color scheme was an assault on the eyes. So I knew deep down it was time to change things up. Make a new layout for both sites that was beautiful and easy on the eyes.
And this is what came out of a long day of editing and making banners and such.
I am absolutely in love with this new simple and neutral design.
I hope you all like this new layout. And I am curious to your feedback on it. Please let me know in the comments what you think.

Kyanara-BJD Commissions for Think Pink

Hi everyone.

I have some awesome news.I have had the amazing pleasure to have been commissioned by Think Pink to do a set of four face-ups for their store.
Have you always wanted a face-up from me, but for some reason never have been able to commission me. There now is a chance to own an amazingly beautiful doll with a face-up I did.
Currently I am doing my best to make the four dolls given to me by Think Pink as pretty as I possibly can for all of you
After I am done, I will hand them back to the lovely ladies of Think Pink and they will put them up for sale in their store.  So they will be up for grabs for all of you out there.
I have to admit I feel utterly blessed to have been commissioned by them and I am enjoying every minute of the time I spend doing the face-ups.

Big Spring Blog Clean up

*picks up her broom and starts sweeping.*
Today I started a big spring clean up on my blog.
I noticed I had a lot of blog posts up from which the picture had gone missing, and I can not seem to find out where they went.
I don't like having blog posts on my blog that evolve all around the picture, but there is no picture to be seen. So I decided that if I could not find the pictures, I should delete those posts.
What is the use of keeping them, when there is nothing in them to show?
I deleted a little over 60 blog posts.
No worries though. I still have more than 300 posts for you to see and read, there is still plenty left.
And ofcourse there are many more new ones to come.

And then.......

And then it happens.
That one thought that brings along a change in your dolls.

How it all started.
Me and my best friend were sitting in my doll room talking about our dolly goals we had promised to fulfill this year.
We both have a goal in mind, and that is bring home a beloved character.
As we talked about her character maybe coming home I came to realize that bringing home my character, which is Zane, would take a very long time as I am currently saving for Ldoll.
This sad fact also brought to mind I have not been touching Zane's partner Cade. Over the last few weeks I have had all my dolls in my hands, except for Cade. (No, worries, Cade is not going anywhere) But we kind of both figured I have not been doing much with Cade because Zane is not here yet.
It made me wish that there was one doll in my current collection that would portrait Zane as I see him.
And then.......
There it was
That thought.
Monodee Rich.
He possible could be a perfect Zane.
So there I went.
I dressed him up with a set of blue eyes and a blonde wig, and a simple set of tanktop and blouse as that is what Zane mostly wears.
And for a moment, it seemed to work.
I pulled Cade out of him spot in the closest. Almost had to dust him off, as it had been that long.
And put together, the two dolls did seem to have a connection.

Unfortunately as the evening progressed, and Sunday made way for Monday something about "the new Zane" irked me.
It was not the fact he did not seem to connect to Cade. Nor was his styling.
I soon found it was the fact that the Monodee Rich has a very young face. I have always wanted the Luts Abadon mold for him, and that mold has bit of more matured look to him. The cute young face the Monodee Rich has was just to young for a multiple century old master demon.
It also didn't really help that Cade is also the owner of a more matured look which made the Monodee Rich look even younger.

So for two days I had been struggling with this and I was not quite sure how I was going to tackle the problem.
I was hoping that with days passing I would grow to love and accept the younger look. But deep down, I knew I would never.
Perhaps I even knew I was not ready to settle.
Or perhaps it was the fact that everything I looked at him I saw Maddox in him.

Can you guess where this is heading?

*hands out cookies to those who guessed right*

And I can hear the questions rise within you. What happens now to the old Maddox.
That was a problem I solved quickly by bringing back a certain beloved skater/surfer smexy werewolf dude.

And that is the whole story of how one little thought brought on a huge change in my characters.
This is so typical of me. Yes, I am admitting to this honestly because it is the truth. You can ask anyone I know. Every single change I make always comes with a though of;  "what if" or "would it be" or even "I wish"
And those who know me well know exactly when a thought like that crosses my mind as apparently it shows in my eyes.
And for one, I hope to have many more of there thoughts as they keep my creative thoughts and juices flowing. It would be a shame to loose all of that.

I promise I will make some new pics for you all to see soon when I have recharged my camera. *oops*

New Years Blog Resolutions

New Year Blog Resolutions
Yes, those exist too hihi
Or atleast they to with me.

As you might all know my blog mostly contains my adventures with my dolls through pictures, pictures and more pictures. And all though I love posting my best work here I have been feeling I have been lacking in text.
I never really share my adventures by simply telling you about them.
So, That's what I have decided I should do.
I should start writing down my adventures, thoughts and all that jazz. Start actually using the key's on my key board to tell you of all the amazing an fun things I do in this hobby. From meets, to shoot, and doll trades and wishlists and and and.... so many more things. The list is too long.
This! is my one and only new years blog resolution. But it's a big one. A huge one that will bring a even bigger change to my blog along with it.
I do sincerely hope you will all like my wish to start writing more and that you will find my stories interesting and worth reading about.
And if you are just here for the pretty pictures and not the text part. I would not blame you if you were to skip reading and just watch.

Busy busy me

Lately I have been swamped in work.

Something I don't mind at all, don't get me wrong.
I have been working hard on making items for my Etsy shop, but mostly of all I have been busy with my new job and doing face-up commission.

About a little over a month ago I got myself a new job that keeps me away from home 2 days a week and keeps me busy another two evenings a week at home.

The rest of the days in the week have been consumed by face-up commission.

I have been so lucky that I have been receiving so many request for face-ups, and I love dong them.

But I got a little to consumed in making them head pretty and getting them back to their happy owners, that I forgot making end result pictures of most of them

Yes, I know. I am an idjit for doing so. Luckily some of the commissions have been by friends, so I can ask  them if I can take pictures of the heads when I see them again. Others, I am not so lucky with. 

I am trying to collect as much pictures of the face-ups as I can, so I can update you all on my latest work.

So.... expect some updating of my portfolio in the near future. (okay maybe a lot of updating, I have been lacking in updating due to me being so busy, sorry about hat)

I would like to give a shout out to the people who are wanting a face-up commission by me in December. Better hurry up in contacting me, I am almost full for the month!

I´m still allive

I just realized just how long I have been inactive on my blog.
And I feel kind of ashamed of not giving you all a heads up before I went M.I.A.
The reason why I have not been so very active as of late has two main reasons.

1:  Is called Popcon. Me and my best friend had a stand at this new Dutch BJD event, and I had to do a whole lot of work to make sure I had enough things to sell.
So I spent a good three weeks on preparing for this new event. Making furwigs, beanies and scarfs and clothes. unfortunately it took up so much of my time, that I just did not have any time left to really enjoy my dolls at all.
P.S..... Popcon was amazing!!!!!!!

2: I was jam packed with commission. Is that a bad thing? No ofcourse it's not. I love doing face-ups. But they do take a lot f time to do, so besides preparing for Popcon this is the other main reason I was M.I.A for so long.

Now it seems that my schedule is somewhat clearing up again, so I should slowly be getting more time to post pictures of my own dolls. ( I am still very busy when it comes to commissions, but I do not have to work twice as hard and prepare for a con anymore)
I do have a lot of things to tell you.
Even though I did not really have time for my own dolls in the past weeks... I did have a lot of changes in my crew.
But I'll safe that for a later post..... as I will have some awesome pictures to accompany those updates.

For now I will say... I'm still alive!

Two new boys

I have a confession to make.
I broke my new years resolution, big time. *oops*

At the very beginning of this year I made a promise to myself to not buy any more heads unless  there is a body attached to it.
Wellllllllll......Atleast I stuck to my resolution for almost a month. *insert guilty weak smile*

One night me and my best friend were plotting with our doll chara's and when we got talking on how two of our dolls would meet up in their story line we came to the conclusion that the couple we had was not going to work out so well. That is when I somewhat jokingly said I had a chara I made up for Cat's story was still available. His name is Trajan or Trey for short and he is Cat's uncle.
Just a few moments later I ended up adding Trey to my wishlist of dolls planning on buying him when I got a change to get him with body.
But what I had not seen coming is that only a day later that very same friend apped me a picture of a doll a mutual doll friend was selling. And it was perfect. Perfect for Trey.
And within 24 hours I found myself coming to a deal with the seller to buy the doll from her.
I still can not believe it all went to very fast.
24 hours was all it took for me to break my promise. But then again, the head is very pretty. And honestly I am not regretting anything so far.
I made the payment today, and now I have to wait for an opportunity to go and pick him up, which will probably be in a week or two. So exited!!!! My handsome incubus man is coming home!
I am still keeping his mold a little bit of a secret still. So keep an eye out for more news on him.

But that is not all.
I was checking the new messages on a dutch BJD forum when I saw that YasminBJD had a DOD ducan on a feeler sale.
I am a HUGE fan of DOD and I already have 3 of their dolls. And the ducan was one I had on my wishlist. So I contacted her about it and only a couple of days later  the deal was made.
I have to admit I love trading/selling with her. She is so very nice and awesome!
I also made the payment for him today and to top it off I get the honor of doing the face-up of one of her dolls too as part of the buy.
He is going to be Varlow, who is a friend and co-worker of Aspen my DOD dream head 4

I really can not wait for both of my new man to come home.
If all goes well Varlow should be here somewhere this week.

And to make time pass by quickly I will throw myself onto doing a new face-up on one of my Hujoo Yomi's and work on a face-up commission for Vejitadmc's Luts Blanchet

New Name

I've done it.

Something I have been wanting to do for quite some time.
I have changed my blog name and url.
I have been growing sick of the old name for quite some time. I had a feeling it just did not fit me anymore.
The reason why I have not changed everything earlier on is the fact that I was afraid people would not be able to find me anymore.
But then I realized that people mostly know me by my name Kyanara and not by my stupid and lame blog title.
So after coming to that conclusion I changed the blog name.
It feels good to finally have my blog and all my other things under the same name "Kyanara"

I hope you all like the new blog name, and will not shoot me for changing it.

(Now to change all the banners and stuffs. It does bring me a whole lot of work XD)

The ending of our lives together

It's still a little hard to wrap my head around, and it is still really awkward.......But yesterday I made the decision to sell the very first doll I ever ordered.
For many many many years I said, I will never sell my girl Liza who is a resinsoul Mei purple skin.
But for the last nine months or so I have been having huge bonding issues with her.
She is a really pretty doll, but that was it. She just sat in a chair, or resided in my dollie closet. And I really didn't do anything with her. And it's has taken many weeks for me to even be able to make the decision to sell her. I have tried to make things work, by giving her new clothes, a new wig, and even new eyes. But nothing worked, nothing was able to ignite that spark that once was.

Not only have I decided to sell my Mei, I have also decided to sell my boy Ira.Which actually means.... I will be getting rid of all my MSD dolls.

Unfortunately I also lost my connection with this cutie. The decision to sell him was not as hard as it was with Liza, but it still was a hard one to make. But I had to do it. I just could not make myself believe there was a connection anymore.

I have been contemplating why this is happened to me. Why I had lost all interest in my MSD dolls.
And I think it's due to the fact that over the last year I have grown so much in the hobby. My tastes in dolls have changed. I used to love small dolls en girly dolls, and had multiple Yo-sd girls and msd dolls.
My Yo-sd I sold many moths back, and now my MSD. With that fact in mind I can honestly say, I prefer the SD and larger dolls over the smaller ones. And.... I prefer male over female.
Ofcourse that is not a bad thing. Not at all of you ask me. But it hurts a little when you have to make decision like these.

Fortunately I can say that both of them have found amazingly awesome new homes already and I am also happy to say that even though they are not mine anymore, they will not leave my life completely.
Both of them have found new owners that also happen to be close friends of mine. So Yay! for that.

New layout Blog and sites

Lately I have been a little irritated with the fact that the sites and the blog did not match all to well with one another. Both had different layouts and different colors and backgrounds and it just irked the freck out of me.

So today I buckled my self down on my couch and spend a whole day stuck in HTML world with colors and wallpapers and layouts. To make a more unified front out the them.
I made a layout for the sites that is identical for all three of them. I made new banners for all four sites that are also all identical, and used the same colors on all four sites.
yes the blog had a different background that the sites, but I think that is not too bad. The blog just didn't look right without a wallpaper for some reason.
And having done all that, I think I succeeded!

Maddox

The story behind the picture:

I'd like you all to meet my new character, Maddox. Yes character, cause the doll was one I already owned.
This head used to be Jules.
I hear you asking, why change a character?
It all started with my Dream of doll Code 2 head who was named Jillian.
When I got Jillian for my birthday I was overjoyed and absolutely happy with him. He had borrowed Jules his wig, his eyes and his clothes until he got a pair of eyes and a wig for himself. I absolutely loved the look he had with the borrowed stuff, and I tried to keep the way he looked all cocky and bored with his new stuff.
Soon he was given his own wig and eyes and Jules was given his own stuff back and it all seemed alright. But the clothing he had borrowed remained him for the time. I thought I had kept that cockiness with his new stuff and I was happy.
But the as time progressed I started to get frustrated with him. I could not find that cock bastard in him anymore and he looked like a mess with the wig that just didn't want to work with me and the eyes that were to dull for my taste.
The frustration with the guy heated up so much I thought of reshelling him into another character. But no matter how hard I tried and no matter how many times I went over the chara's I still had wanting to be dollized. I just could not find the right character for him. I started trying eyes and wig of my other dolls to see what would suit him, perhaps I would get a hint of who he was by doing that. But every time I came back to Jules his wig and eyes. He was till wearing Jules his clothes too.
That was when my best friend told me... why not make him Jules?
She told me that she had thought he was Jules when I first got him and was still borrowing Jules his things.
And that got the huge rock rolling.
She was right, My little inspi fairy as I like to call her was right AGAIN. Thank you dear!
All that time I had been struggling with the guy.... all that time... he had been meant to be Jules.
And thus the change was made, he was given Jules his wig, eyes and a new "jules" face-up. And I love him to bits now.

But that left me with the head of old Jules.... who was he gonna be?
I went over the same process with him as I did with Jules...
Trying on wigs, trying out eyes.... what would fit him best?
There were two wigs that suited him and I had a hard time deciding which one to go for. I gave him Jillians eyes and those suited him perfectly. after dubbing and some help from my little inspi fairy we came up with Maddox. I was still having a hard time seeing Maddox in the head. and I didn't know why. I half decided to make him Maddox, but kept an open mind for change.
The reason of my doubts..... his face-up.
His face-up was still Jules so that needed to go. I got to that as soon as I could.
As I layered on his face-up I kept on switching between the two wigs I thought would suit him best and it became clear very soon that this one wig looked way better on his than the other.
And the closer I came to finishing him the more I felt Maddox arising in him.
And that was when it was all said and done.

Now you know why and.... how hihihi.

Recently I moved from my utterly small dollie room to a much larger room that was know as "The red room" Which was nothing more that out attic since we don't have an attic. I was able to switch these two rooms around. I had to do this, because doing face-ups with little to no daylight is so hard. No such problems anymore in my new Dollie room. I am overjoyed with the light, the extra space.

Holiday time

Hi everyone!

Here's a heads up for all of you.
For the next two weeks there is going to be a lack of activity on my blog here.
The reason is, that I am enjoying a summer holiday with The male in beautiful France.

From spreading the word to owning

Not so very long ago I posted a sales post here on my blog to help my best friend sell one of her heads.
I must admit it was hard to see him go as I had fallen in love with him so hard.
I had always said. If you really can not sell him, I want him. But it never really came up again until out last meet at a mutual BJD friends place.
For some reason the subject of the head came up again and I repeated what I had told her before. Only to find out she didn't know. Little miss-communication. But it was that day the deal was made and not hours later I came home with a Dollzone Megi-A head.
I already knew who he was going to be.
Quinn. A character that was fairly new for me but I wanted him so bad nonetheless. Quinn is my cute but not so innocent little boy.

The picture shown is the picture I made after doing his face-up. He is also going to get the same wig, but I currently do not have it yet.
He has got light blue eyes (different from  the picture) and I added some cute freckles to his face-up.

As soon as I have him complete with clothes, eyes, wig etc etc I will post some pictures of him.

And that is kind of how my advert turned into an ownership. hihihi.

Trading is Cool

A few weeks ago my best friend Amariexciryatan pointed a sales thread out to me on DOA. It was a Resinsoul Mu head in white skin. I have been wanting to own a Mu for some time now for one of my oldest characters. Originally i wanted him in green, but I changed my mind, not really feeling all to at ease with that color. And when this sale crossed my path I was excited. But fact is. I did not have the money to by it. That is..... until I saw the seller was open for trades. So I contacted the seller and after a new messages back and forth it was done. I would make her some custom clothes and she would send me the head. After buckling down for a few says, sewing my ass off, and a week of waiting for the head to arrive.... he is here!!!!!!
That.... is why I love trades. You can get really lovely things when you just give it a try.

I have been working hard on some face-ups the last few days, and I thought Id share them with you.
Also  I had my first try at piercing ears... which turned out pretty awesome I think.

Not so very long ago I posted a blog post telling you all about the body switch dance I had with my doll bodies and my doll heads, and that I finally found a way to make it all fit.

In the meantine... I recieved a few more heads, and one body.
A quick resume of my new dolls.
In the first message you find a doll with the name of Micah. Weeeelllll turns out the mold just wasn´t suitable for Micah and he turned out to be Kai, another chara I had on my wishlist.
Then came Kaleb my new leekeworld head, and totally to my own surprise Ira came along AND!!! a whole new SD body, The last two with many many many thanks to AmariexCiryatan who was willing to sell them to me. Thank you girl, love you! ♥

A lot has happened

And a lot has happened indeed.
I hardly know what to tell you first, but I figure starting at the very beginning is the best.
And the start  of the story starts with the arrival of my new Luts Winter event head of 2011.
From  the day I bought him off a very nice seller on DOA I figured he would be perfect for my character Micah and that he would match just perfectly with my Luts SDF body.
I could not have been more wrong on both parts!

The moment I ripped open the box came in I saw that the head was way less yellow that my body was, and

I did not even need the body beside it to see the difference. I think my body is just was more yellowed that everybody around me thought. ( not that I really mind though ). But having the head not matching the body one bit meant that I had to dive into my resin bodies and find a match.  He matched perfectly with my resinsoul body, but due to the neck of the resinsoul body being modded to fit a smaller head it looked a little wack. I knew my Asleep Eidolon body was just as pale as my resinsoul body so that was my second option and BAM! body found. But that left me wondering if the new body line up I made a few days earlier was still working for me. (see my last post for line up)
And I soon found I was growing a little unhappy with the set up with the luts head now sitting on another body. But it was an easy fix. A switch is probably a better word. I switches Jules his head for the new head. Jules went back to t he luts body he had always been on and the new head on  the Asleep Eidolon body Jules had been on. Problem solved.

It was already late in the evening when I got the head so I had to wait a day before I could do his face-up.
Keeping in mind he was going to be my Character names Micah I wanted him to look a little bad ass.
I should have know right there and then that this mold just does not lend it self to such a character.
It took me a whole lot longer that normal to finish the face-up on him and in the end this is what I got.

I was absolutely over the moon with this face-up, as it was the very first time I used acrylic paint for both the lashes and the eyebrows. Yes I have never used paint like this before. I never really dared to use it, afraid I would fail miserably. I only once before used paint on the lashes, but nothing more than that.
And by my own surprise it actually turned out just flipping perfect! I think I now understand the technique behind it, Yay!

And it was the very first time I  dared giving one of my guys a little beard!!! Which I adored so much. But the more I looked at it and despite how much I love the result. The head just did not match the face-up. The head was just to cute to be able to handle the face-up correctly. (guess I'll shelve that idea for another doll one day ) It was one of my best friends who came with the solution to all my problems. For which I am so utterly grateful!

She actually suggested a character change. Change the head into a character that was still on my wishlist and was actually a little shy and cute character.
The characters name: Kaiko (member of my resinband).

I removed the face-up I gave the head the same day I put it on him. and because Light had already started to fade I had to wait until the next day to start a new one.
Early the next morning I took out my gear again and started the face-up.... again.
The result.... Is kind of similar in a way, but then again. Absolutely not! Also popped in some other eyes. And BAM! Kaiko was born. And he is just so damn cuuuuuuuuuute!

Do the body switch dance

I am gonna make a confession. Something many people do not know, but something I am not really ashamed of, but never really get to tell people other that the people that are close to me. It just  never comes up on blogs or other social media things.
Almost all my dolls share their body with other dolls.  Which basically means, I have more heads that bodies.
Yesterday I realized I might have gotten myself in some real problems. I have a Luts winter even head '11 on the way, and that boy does need a body too. Ofcourse I know that he will fit perfectly with my Luts SDF body. But that body already was claimed by three other heads. And I knew right there and then. Four heads on one body, is just t much. So I figured, let's see what I can do without needing to buy a new body, for which I currently am saving, but do no have the money yet. So I ended up doing the head and body dance with my dolls.

So, this is what I started with. That was my doll collection chaos before I started the head and body dance.

My first thoughts was that my upcoming Luts winter event head '11 (who from now on will be called Micah) should go on the Luts SDF body I have. There was no doubt about that. But that meant one head had to be transferred to one of the other bodies I own. My very first thought was to put Aiden back on his old body, which is the Resinsoul body. But then my close friend reminded me I had the neck of my Resinsoul body for it to fit Paisley's head better, and the neck now was smaller that before. So putting Aiden with his wide neck back on that body was a No-Go. Then I remembered something else. I knew Jules could easily go on the asleep eidolon body. He had been on that body before I got the luts SDF body, and it matched perfectly. So there Jules went, and he became the first real switch. I was content with my choice for a long while. But after a few hours I realized. That If I would kept hings the way they were with the switch of Jules I would never ever be able to put the band mates and best friends Brandon and Jules in one picture. Then my friend mentioned that if I wanted tho make pictures, that Jules could borrow the SDF body for only the pictures. That would solve the problems, but somehow it felt only half a solution to me. I thought about it for a moment. And then the biggest light bulb of the day went on.
I squealed and ran right for my doll cabinet, my friend must have thought I had lost it when I sprang to action all happy and squealing like a newly born piglet.
I went to fetch Brandon's head from the cabinet and pulled Paisley as well.
The moment the light went on in the attic of my head I realized that Brandon in fact is a female head who I turned into a boy. And he in fact has a very small neck opening, just like Paisley has.
So I pulled Paisley, one of my exclusive dolls of his body and stuck Brandon on it instead. I knew of forehand the match would not be perfect, but the match was no worse that it had been with the asleep eidolon body he had been on before.
And Damn I wish I could have  thought of this sooner. Cause it was a match made in heaven. Brandon just looks so good on  the resinsoul body, that I knew right there and then, The second head and body switch had been made.
So, with that concluded. I knew I had my new line-up.
